Lead Paint Removal Program
The Authority, through its ongoing partnership with The Holly City Development Corporation (HCDC) and the Cumberland County Department of Health (CCDOH), is continuing its mission to make Cumberland County lead safe. Together, The Authority, HCDC, and CCDOH are abating and remediating multiple homes built before 1978 that contain lead-based paint. This is an often hidden danger that poses serious health risks to children. Every home completed is another step toward a healthier, safer community for all.
Linden Street Homes Groundbreaking
The Authority has worked closely with partners to redevelop ten vacant and abandoned properties on Linden Street in Salem City. Work continues in Salem City. The Authority has worked closely with Restrepo & Associates on Linden Avenue, where construction is scheduled to commence in August. Two of The Authority’s interns—Diego, an architecture student at Thomas Jefferson University, and Alex, an engineering student at Cumberland County Technical Education Center—have surveyed existing conditions of dozens of city-owned properties throughout Salem. Diego and Alex have combined available property data with on-the-ground observation of each parcel into a single, interactive map. Their efforts allow the City and The Authority to have informed, strategic conversations about redevelopment opportunities for the landbank.
