What's New at The Authority?
Upper Deerfield BOE
The Seabrook School Pre-K Expansion project has been progressing well. All footings, foundations and under-slab utilities have been installed and inspected. Next up, is the building pad concrete pour of more than 200 CY of concrete, marking a pivotal point in construction. Once the pad is poured, all the trades will remobilize to install masonry walls, in wall electric, and plumbing work. The trades have been working together to keep the project on schedule and get the building pad poured, before the cold weather arrives.
Linden Street Homes
The Linden Street Housing project is well underway with two of the six new homes framed, sheathed, exterior windows installed, and mechanical systems underway. Two of the other homes are in the exterior framing portion of the build. All six homes are expected to be complete Spring 2026.
Board of Social Services
The Salem County Board of Social Services project began Phase One on October 20. Crews have started deconstructing the existing HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and interior partitions. Work for Phase One is expected to last 8-10 weeks, with Phase Two to immediately follow. The total project timeline is estimated 5-6 months.
CCTEC
The contract for the new addition to the CCTEC campus has been awarded local contractor, Ogren Construction. The new addition will be approximately 16,800 square-feet and house two dual-use classrooms, a construction lab, two manufacturing labs, a photonics stem lab, and welding lab, along with support spaces, such as offices, a conference room, and utility spaces. This exciting addition will provide space for training the future community contributors in much needed specialized areas. Work is scheduled to begin immediately, and is expected to be complete in Spring 2027.
Bridgeton Fire Station
The new Bridgeton Fire Station is progressing according to plan. The historic masonry preservation work is completed, and the historical replica windows are installed. The drywall on the interior is ongoing, and the rooms are taking shape. The footings for the apparatus bay are completed and the slab is scheduled to be installed next. The Authority continues to work closely with the City Administration and Fire Chief. The project is on schedule for completion in Summer 2026.
NJ State Police Barracks
The Port Norris barracks construction project has reached an early milestone with TCO being received on October 15, a month and a half ahead of schedule. The punchlist work is underway and the sitework has been completed as well. The furniture purchased by NJSP has been delivered and installation was complete on October 31. The NJSP troopers are excited to get moved into their new space and have been onsite daily, coordinating their move. The move is expected to be complete before Christmas. Another great job by Ogren Construction working with The Authority, NJSP, and their subcontractors, completing the new barracks ahead of schedule.
Cape May Police Department and Justice Complex
The Authority is pleased to be working alongside the City of Cape May, as construction begins on the new Police Department facility. Site preparations are already underway, including installation of temporary fencing and designated job-site parking. Full construction is expected to start in November. Cape May County Officials held a groundbreaking ceremony and work commenced for the new $21,546,500 Cape May County Justice Complex on October 1, 2025. The project includes a new 2-story, 37,381 SF building for the Prosecutor’s Office and renovations of 11,785 SF of an existing building where the Prosecutor’s Office was previously located. That space will be converted into a Cadet Barracks for the Police Academy. Demolition of selected buildings and sitework are included in the scope of work. All phases of this multi-phase project are expected to be complete July 2027.
