The Authority Newsletter- June 2026

What's New at The Authority?

Landfill Update

The Authority’s summer projects are underway. The Drop-Off Center project is nearing completion, as the area is scheduled for paving the first week of June. This upgrade will make for a smoother and safer operation for customers, and will be complete June 2026. The Authority has begun its horizontal well installation project in Cells 8 and 9. These installations will help to mitigate odors, maximize landfill gas collection, and therefore, produce more energy.

The tour familiarized USDA leadership with The Authority, local projects, and the geography and industry of Cumberland County. The tour included a meeting with representatives from the County and local oyster industry. Discussions focused on potential federal funding opportunities through USDA and its partner agencies, as well as future events to better connect local stakeholders with available resources.

Upper Deerfield Board of Education

The Seabrook School Pre-K Expansion project is nearing the finish line with interior finish work being performed by the plumbers, electricians, carpenters, drywall finishers, and pipe insulators. The ceiling work is getting ready to start, and casework has been scheduled for delivery in early June. The Authority hopes to have the air handlers and chillers up and running shortly so contractors can condition the interior of the building to complete flooring and interior door installations. The project is nearing substantial completion, which is slated for mid-to-late June. Furniture is ordered and scheduled for delivery at the end of July, leaving plenty of time for the district to move into the space, and be ready for school to start in September 2026.

The steel bar joist and metal decking are scheduled to be delivered in the upcoming week, with installation immediately thereafter. The project is on schedule for an April 2027 completion, in time for the new school year.
