What's New at The Authority?

Sika Ribbon Cutting

On April 10, Sika held a ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening of its northeast anchor plant in Upper Deerfield. The state-of-the-art plant will produce construction mortar for residential and commercial properties. The site, which is now fully operational and will produce 50 job opportunities, is the latest example of international businesses choosing to locate in Cumberland County. The US President of Sika announced two additional expansions at the current Upper Deerfield site over the next several years.

Expanded Services at Center for Workforce and Economic Development

The New Jersey Department of Labor has announced that unemployment insurance agents are now offering in-person services at CWED, located on the campus of Rowan College of South Jersey-Cumberland in Vineland. The services, which are offered on Wednesdays and Thursdays, are available by appointment only and must be scheduled online. Previously, in-person appointments were only offered in two South Jersey locations, Cherry Hill and Pleasantville. The agents will be co-located with workforce development and employment services, creating an enhanced one-stop location for employment needs.

Upper Deerfield Board of Education

The Seabrook School expansion project is watertight with shingles installed and exterior windows installed. As a result, the project has made a major transformation in April, due to the nearly 6,200 working hours put into the project. All trades have been working simultaneously and seamlessly to make up for lost time from the adverse winter weather conditions. Trades are working on interior metal stud framing, electrical, plumbing, sprinklers, ductwork, and painting daily. The mason has done an excellent job finishing the exterior block work. The project is on pace to meet the June 16 deadline for substantial completion.

CCTEC

The new addition for the Cumberland County Technical Education Center is progressing. The masonry bearing walls are  underway. The steel columns and support beam are complete and tasks have been moving along with good weather. The project is expected to be complete in April 2027.

Bridgeton Fire Station

The Bridgeton Fire Station Project is progressing according to plan. The brick veneer and the apparatus bay wall panels  in the rear of the building are complete. Next to be completed is the wall panel above the overhead doors. Mechanical work on the interior is underway. The project remains on schedule to be completed in Summer 2026.

Bridgeton Board of Education Projects

Starting in July 2026, the Bridgeton Board of Education will be expanding three K-8 schools and performing a lighting and fire alarm upgrade at the High School. The three additions have a construction timeline completion ready for September 2027. The budget for the projects is $29,875,000. Cherry Street School will undergo a 19,390-square-foot addition with a budget of $10,440,000. Indian Avenue School will receive a 20,710-square-foot addition with a budget of $10,280,000.
